Ascent and BTI (Business Today International) Alliance

E-mail Print PDF

Business Today International has been improving individual and company performance world-wide since 1981 and Ascent are the exclusive provider of Business Today International’s simulations throughout the GCC.

Business Today International’s simulation programs are real-world simulations that provide feedback. The simulations build knowledge and shift attitudes to empower staff to be aligned and committed to achieving a company’s goals and objectives, resulting in improved bottom-line performance. This is achieved through a unique learning methodology, to build a real and deep understanding of your business amongst all staff.

Extensive product development has resulted in Business Today International’s portfolio of simulations growing exponentially as they discover that their approach works for industries as diverse as financial services and mining. Over 160 different simulations have been created for different industries, however, if a simulation does not exist that suits your specific business, by working together one can be created to fit a company’s exact needs. We want to fit the program to the client, not the client to the program.

As each simulation is designed for the client’s individual needs, the various benefits are as wide ranging as the clients themselves. Simulations can help managers and employees see the bigger picture of how a business operates, the strategic issues present and where they can make a difference. A simulation can also demonstrate that planning is critical to business and that the need to co-ordinate actions across departments is paramount.

Business Today International’s simulations are hands on learning experiences for delegates playing the ‘games’ in small teams of 2-4 people each assuming a role within their team e.g. Marketing, Production, Finance . Each team then has the task of running their business in competition with other teams of delegates within specified ‘business cycles’.

The teams must take into account the key elements and processes of the specific business (for which the simulation has been designed) and, as the simulation progresses, exercises, such as budgeting, can be introduced to facilitate learning.

The simulations are not simply ‘games’. Delegates quickly discover that the depth of decision making involved and the level of sophistication make Business Today International’s simulations highly worthwhile collaborative learning experiences. The simulations have been carefully designed so it is the delegates’ decisions and actions that drive the results as opposed to random elements or luck.
