All levels of staff generally need to become more aware of the business implications of the decisions they make in the organisation. By understanding the bigger business picture and their specific role in its success or failure, staff and managers can begin to function more effectively.
The increasing pace of business change is driving decision making down to grass roots staff. To achieve this may seem daunting, but it can be successfully implemented in an environment of enthusiasm and acceptance to change. But how does an organisation get to this point.
A Training Solution
In real life, the attempt to move the business to this future state often meets with resistance. The solution: business simulation training addresses the issue of acceptance to change. Simulation training can be designed to reflect the "ideal future" state of the organisation.
Information is gathered covering the company's micro and macro economic factors, policies, strategies and financial results, giving a real business understanding gathered from the organisation's key players.
Board-based simulation training enables employees at all levels to discover how they can personally influence the business' performance and future through their everyday activities and the decisions they make.
This understanding helps employees transcend traditional notions about functional barriers and leads to improved decision making and problem solving. The learning will also improve the overall company performance through the employees' understanding of the "bigger picture".
Staff will experience this future state in a fun and non-threatening way. It reduces the anxiety caused by change and increases the likelihood of success in the real world and the pace at which change can be implemented.
"Since 1981, Business Today has developed a range of business simulations that are utilised worldwide as a vehicle for providing staff with a working knowledge of their business and its finances," says ...........
Teams of managers and employees manage a simulated business, competing with other staff on the course. Teams make a variety of decisions over a number of business cycles, discover how money and other resources flow through their operation, analyse the consequences of their decisions and mistakes (financial and otherwise), take corrective action and reiterate the simulation.
"This experiential process is challenging, highly competitive and fun. It allows delegates to gain a base of business awareness and understanding."
"A key philosophy of our training technology is that delegates discover the key business realities and issues, as opposed to being told," says ..................
"Lessons learned are constantly compared to their actual working environment. Simulations include client and company language and financial structures. Through becoming aware of the bigger picture of their business, and their own role toward its success or failure, staff and managers begin to function more effectively toward common goals," says........... .
Business simulation training has many applications, including change management interventions, accelerated development and business improvement programmes. The programmes can be customised to fit a particular organisation. In preparation for a course, Business Today will gather the relevant company information to design a simulation to best suite the organisation's requirements.
