Establishing - Refining & Monitoring

This elite cadre includes or is represented by the executive leadership (I call it executive leadership since there seems to be a new buzz which renders the term 'management' as almost derogatory' when compared to 'leadership'). Hence in my dictionary I have coined the term 'executive leadership'.


This cadre is responsible for Establishing, Refining & Monitoring.
Establishing: this is the first easy step. Establishing what is the purpose and business idea acceptable to the elite cadre comprising of the Business owners / stake holders and the 'executive leadership. This process is best done internally via a series of discussions. These discussions may r may not be facilitated depending on how confident the 'elite cadre is in their capacity of working on the task.
Refining: these business ideas may needs fine tuning as one initiates the journey. This refinement is also an ongoing process.
Monitoring: a very important step consisting of monitoring two critical factors
- Progress of the business idea
- What is the believability / buy in of the stake holders in general.
XYZ the ex coo of Intel commented in one of his interviews / articles compared leadership of an organization to the leadership of a contingency of soldiers embarking on a journey to 'the land of successes. His comment stressed on the unwavering of the conviction and belief of the leadership in this Land destination NO matter what one finds enrooted.
Using this example let's look at establishing once again: the elite cadre sees and decides on the destination (the land of success). This decision now needs to be conveyed to the rest of the troops. This responsibility lies with the executive leadership. (EL)

Excitement, anxiety, severe apprehension. The people responding in this manner can also be classified into 3

  1. The willing / Change champions
  2. The fence sitters
  3. The Sabatier's
